The Director, People and Capability provides leadership, management and a portfolio of HR strategic and operational human resources advice and services.
The Director works collaboratively with the Vice-Chancellor and Te Hiwa (SLT) to support all areas of people leadership and management.
The team includes change management, capability development, employment law and employment relations, strategic HR and business partnering, payroll and the other operational functions expected.
Key areas include: Being a leader of the HR portfolio and the team's work exemplifying the values that we hold close Providing strategic input into strategies to enable the vision and priorities of the University Providing high quality advice to the Vice-Chancellor in all areas as required including attracting, developing and retaining highly capable staff, change management, and enhancing the staff experience at the University.
Working with the Vice-Chancellor and Te Hiwa colleagues to align the allocation of resources with strategic priorities in a proactive way.
Working with Te Hiwa colleagues, Deans and Directors of Central Service Units to support and bring alignment.
Leading and managing the Human Resources team in promoting a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations, equal employment opportunities, effective health, safety and wellness practices in the workplace and other good employer initiatives.
About You - O pumanawa: To be successful in this role you will be a CPO operating at the strategic level with a significant track record of working in a complex organisation and a demonstrable ability to support broad transformation that will create in a fit-for-future organisation.
As important as your professional skills are in a large organisation at this level, your interpersonal attributes will be in focus.
This environment is fast-paced and highly complex.
We need someone with sound leadership exercised in a proactive and pragmatic style, and quickly able to develop options, assess risk, and the trade-offs to assist the Vice Chancellor in their decisions.
This person will also have a track-record of being a critical and integral member of an SLT with a style that was proactive in supporting colleagues, being present with them and adding insights to team members to help grow that team.
