One of New York's most prestigious medical centers is seeking a Director of Internal Communications to revolutionize the way it communicates with employees and faculty. This one-of-a-kind position provides an unparalleled opportunity to play an integral role elevating and educating a target audience made up of 25,000 faculty (physicians and researchers) and staff members. You'll be embedded with the senior leadership and will partner with human resources to engage and communicate the strategic vision of the organization as a whole.
You'll be drafting organizational announcements, memos, newsletters, and presentations with the best of them, and you should have an instinctive feel for choosing the tone and voice that will be most effective with your audience. You must be cool as a cucumber when working under pressure and be able to meet sudden and unpredictable needs in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment. You'll also be managing staff, and serving as an adviser to other departments, institutes, and centers, in order to foster relationships and align messages across the entire organization.
Hired Gun Profile At your core, you are a true writer/editor editor with the confidence and maturity to work with C-suite members drafting executive communications (including announcements, memos, and presentations), yet you also have the energy and community spirit to make the organization feel like a big (gigantic, actually) family.
We're looking for someone who combines amazing journalistic and PR judgment and strategy in one package. For starters, you're an excellent and effective copywriter who knows how analytics can assist with messaging, as well as the role that listicles, infographics, video, and other nontraditional communications play in an overall internal-communications strategy.
You're also excellent at interviewing, writing, and editing the work of others, and you know how to manage complex projects. Finally, you've already worked at a significantly large company that gave you the experience of working with a variety of workers, from the highest execs on down.
Top candidates hail from the health vertical and has knowledge of medicine, science, pharma, etc. And we'd be equally keen on someone who has worked at a media property focused on health and wellness for consumer audiences. In-depth knowledge of current issues in health care would also be a major plus.
