Job Title: Director of Human Resources (HR) Location: North Shore, QC.

Position Summary: The Director of Human Resources will play a critical role in shaping and executing the HR strategy to support their team of highly qualified professionals.
This position requires a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities of managing a highly educated and specialized workforce.
The Director of HR will oversee all aspects of human resources, including talent acquisition, performance management, employee relations, and organizational development, focusing on creating a culture of innovation, diversity, and excellence.
Key Responsibilities: Strategic HR Leadership: Develop and implement HR strategies that align with the company's mission and goals, focusing on the needs of a scientific workforce.
Partner with senior leadership to provide insights and recommendations on organizational structure, workforce planning, and talent management.
Lead initiatives to enhance employee engagement, retention, and satisfaction among scientists and researchers.
Talent Acquisition & Development: Oversee the recruitment and onboarding of top-tier scientific talent, ensuring a rigorous selection process that identifies candidates who align with the company's culture and values.
Develop and implement training and development programs tailored to the unique needs of scientists, including leadership development and continuous education.
Collaborate with department heads to identify skill gaps and create strategies for addressing them.
Employee Relations & Performance Management: Serve as a trusted advisor to management and employees on HR-related matters, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Design and manage performance evaluation processes that are objective, transparent, and aligned with the company's scientific goals.
Address and resolve employee relations issues fairly and consistently, ensuring compliance with labor laws and company policies.
Compensation & Benefits: Develop competitive compensation and benefits packages that attract and retain top scientific talent, considering industry standards and market trends.
Oversee employee benefits administration, ensuring they meet the needs of a highly educated and specialized workforce.
Manage the annual salary review process, including benchmarking and pay equity analysis.
Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI): Lead DEI initiatives to ensure a diverse and inclusive workplace that values different perspectives and backgrounds, particularly in a scientific environment.
Develop programs and policies that promote equity and inclusion across all levels of the organization.
Monitor and report on DEI metrics, using data to inform strategies and measure progress.
Compliance & HR Operations: Ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws and regulations, particularly those relevant to scientific and research organizations.
Oversee HR operations, including payroll, HRIS, and employee records, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
Develop and maintain HR policies and procedures that support the company's scientific mission and values.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree or HR certification preferred.
7+ years of HR experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role, preferably in a research or scientific environment.
Strong understanding of the unique HR challenges of managing a highly educated, specialized workforce.
Experience in talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, and organizational development.
Proven ability to develop and implement HR strategies that align with organizational goals.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with employees at all levels.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.
Bilingual with strong verbal and written communication skills in English and French.
Adaptable and comfortable with change and ambiguity.
Discrete and trustworthy, capable of handling confidential information.
Proactive self-starter with a 'whatever it takes' attitude.
Calm under pressure and able to manage competing priorities.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
