Sandfords Group of Companies is a family-owned rural transport business based in South Taranaki. Operating a fleet of Bulk, Silo, Livestock, Concrete and Groundspread vehicles, servicing the wider Taranaki area and further afield throughout the North Island.
We have an exciting opportunity within our South Taranaki (Auroa) based operation for a Workshop Manager. This is a hands-on role overseeing and organising our team of mechanics while also being on the workshop floor completing repairs and maintenance. Being a fully qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic in road transport is a must.
This position is for someone who has the ability to organise, multitask, think on the run and work collaboratively with our Business groups, Subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure the fleet and associated plant and equipment is maintained to a high standard in the most cost-effective way, in accordance with all legal and safety requirements while maximising availability during busy work periods.

Key tasks and responsibilities, but not limited to: Plan the day-to-day workload of the Workshop and lead the workflow with your team of Technicians including yourself.
Liaise with our Business groups and Dispatch staff to plan services, maintenance and repairs to meet operational needs.
Communicate with our Business groups and Dispatch staff during repair, progress updates and availability of assets.
Communicate with all external suppliers and subcontractors.
Work collaboratively with the Parts Coordinator, identifying what parts are needed for the coming days and weeks.
Organise breakdown assistance and repairs, including out of town callouts.
Ensure services are carried out on time and to an acceptable standard with records being kept for all vehicles.
Participate in planning meetings (if required) with the Senior Management team to understand forecasted projections, start times, completion times and likely resources required.
Maintain and keep updated our Workshop planning and booking system.
