It weaves the functions of the 20 former District Health Boards into its regional divisions and district offices, ensuring continuity of services in the health system.Waitaha Canterbury is dedicated to upholding the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi and is aligned with the overarching objectives of the New Zealand health and disability strategies. Our organisational vision is centred around improving the health and wellbeing of the people living in Canterbury.As a Paediatric Specialist, you will play a crucial role in providing expert medical care to infants, children, and adolescents. You will diagnose and provide ambulatory medical care for a range of developmental conditions, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and educate patients and their families about their conditions and their management. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional clinical skills, a strong dedication to patient care, and will work collaboratively within a team environment.This role is a 12 Month Fixed Term, Part Time position, 0.8 FTE (32 hours per week) to start March 2025.Responsibilities:Ambulatory paediatric care of children with developmental conditionsProvide assessment, investigations, diagnosis and ongoing management of children with developmental difficultiesCollaborate with other healthcare professionals, including paediatricians, nurses, and therapists, to provide coordinated care.Collaborate with staff from partner agencies around assessment and/or management of children's developmental needs.Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and case conferences to discuss patient care strategies.Participate in supervision of junior staff and other educational activitiesProvide advice and consultative services to junior staff, SMO and primary care colleagues, and members of the multidisciplinary teamTo be considered for this role you will need to be eligible to gain registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
