With our HQ located in Central Christchurch, you will be an integral part of our journey during our start-up phase and helping establish our North Island presence in New Zealand.MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIESAs a Development Underwriter within The Barn (NZ), you will be directly involved in all aspects of the Company's day-to-day underwriting and distribution operations. This comes with significant responsibility and accountability.You will be responsible for supporting the Country Head and Head of Partnerships as required in the various aspects of our Underwriting and Operations.You will be responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with brokers in New Zealand including regular in-person office visits, clear communication, promptly returning calls/emails and outlining mutually agreed service standards.You will be responsible for Underwriting new opportunities and renewals in accordance with the Delegated Underwriting Authority issued to you under the framework of our approved Underwriting Guidelines.Collaborating with the Product Director and Underwriting team with daily running of The Barn's (NZ) Property & Liability underwriting division.Primary duties will include, but may not be limited to:New Business Underwriting including responsibility for:Risk AssessmentHazard mappingPricingCoverage amendmentsPolicy Terms and ConditionsReferrals to Lead Underwriters for special risk approvalsBroker support and relationship developmentPeriodically, you may be required to assist in the following:Preparing Policy DocumentationOngoing Policy Management throughout the policy cycleManaging customer records/databaseBordereaux production input when requiredLiaise with internal and external stakeholders to solve queriesAssisting to develop our IT systems and internal processes. This means contributing to how we continually improve our end-to-end systems and processes to drive excellent operational efficiencies.ABOUT YOU3-5 years previous Underwriting experience, preferably within Property & CasualtyPrevious experience growing a book of commercial business in the NZ marketConfident. Great with people.
