Job Description Te Haeata/The Opportunity The Deputy Secretary Policy is a tier 2 executive role responsible for leading the Ministry's Policy Group.Reporting to the Secretary for Justice, the Deputy Secretary Policy is a member of the Ministry's Strategic Leadership Team and contributes to the overall direction setting of the Ministry and its success as an organisation. O pukenga/Skills and ExperienceTo be considered for this role, you will possess a depth and breadth of experience and understanding/knowledge of public sector policy development processes. You will also have experience in leadership and management in a medium or large organisation and demonstrated success in many of:establishing and maintaining a range of effective internal and external relationships and networks.building and maintain a strong effective team culture.leading and developing policy and legislative programmes.working as a member of a senior leadership group with varying unit goals but shared organisational goals.promoting and implementing policy, legislative and operational change in a complex and changing environment.communicating with different audiences on a range of complex issues.understanding and interpreting legislation.working with Ministers and key public sector stakeholders, including the judiciary. We work closely with the judiciary and our Operational and Service Delivery Group to maintain the integrity of our courts and tribunals and steward our regulatory systems.The Ministry of Justice administers over 150 Acts of Parliament, covering around one third of government's regulatory systems, making our work very diverse.
