Te turanga – The role and your impact
At the Reserve Bank – Te Putea Matua our people are driven to make a difference. Working alongside them, you can make a big impact. We are engaged in a multiyear programme to implement the Deposit Takers Act (2023), and administer the Depositor Compensation Scheme (DCS), to promote the prosperity and well-being of New Zealanders by protecting and promoting the stability of the financial system. The DCS Stakeholder Engagement and Communications will be the internal stakeholder and communications specialist for the DCS.
Your work will be varied with a focus on stakeholder engagement, media and key communications messaging. You will initially work alongside the project team ahead of the go live date July 2025, then transition towards a more BAU focused role.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Working closely with the project and RBNZ communication teams to understand and ensure key messaging is appropriate
Being the primary lead in stakeholder outreach activities to support the promotion of the DCS post go live
Developing relationships with appropriate external entities as we work through the next phases as well as understand lessons learnt from wider industry groups
Drafting communication material such as media releases
Ensuring processes, guidelines and resourcing are well documented

We're looking for someone who is highly experienced in stakeholder engagement and can bring people along on the journey. You will be comfortable working with ambiguity, curious to reflect and review on the evolving nature of this work and happy to get stuck in where needed in the team.
If you have the following, then we want to hear from you:
Senior level experience in stakeholder engagement, marketing communications, and media relations fields
Proven ability to influence at a senior level, think and act strategically while also providing immediate tactical support
Comfortable to provide your views and thoughts within a wide range of situations and audiences
Excellent communication skills and proven stakeholder management and engagement skills
An understanding of web and social media channels
Proven ability to work through ambiguity and remain resilient in pressure environments
A willingness to get involved as required to support the wider DCS Operations team deliverables
