Database Development & Administration (Information & Communication Technology)
Full time
At Whanau Awhina Plunket, people are at the heart of what we do. Our frontline kaimahi impact the lives of whanau from across Aotearoa on a day-to-day basis, providing reassurance and clinical advice in homes, clinics, and community settings.
Our Data and Insights team supports this mahi by partnering with the organisation to utilize our datasets and achieve our strategic goal of equitable service delivery. We're now seeking a Data Technical Lead to join the team in this new permanent full-time role.
While we have a preference for a Wellington or Christchurch based candidate, if you are outside these locations and feel connected to the role, we welcome your application.
Reporting to the Head of Data and Insights, this is an exciting opportunity to shape our vision and impact the future of the way we work. This is a hands-on technical role covering components of data architecture where you will champion business-to-data process design with your strong data engineering skills. This includes the review, analysis, and optimization of data outputs, guiding the team on the technical development of the data outputs.
You will manage the cloud platform administration and maintenance and improvement of reporting processes, alongside mentoring the team to grow their technical skillset. A key focus of the role is to partner with internal stakeholders to understand what they're trying to solve and develop fit-for-purpose solutions.
As we expand our data capabilities and embed the Digital, Data and Technology Strategy, this role will ensure our migration from on-premise to cloud-based runs smoothly.
We're seeking someone with a strong mix of technical data engineering skills alongside a willingness to understand our organisational processes. Your strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and listening skills mean you'll be adept at finding out what exactly our stakeholders need and explaining technical concepts in an easy-to-understand way.
You will also be/have:
At least five years' experience in an enterprise data environment.
Experience with SQL data warehouse technologies (such as SSRS, SSIS, with an added advantage of exposure to DataBricks and Snowflake).
Experience working with SSIS, Python, Git, and PowerBI.
An understanding of reporting tools (ideally a good working knowledge of Power BI).
Knowledge of data warehouse modelling techniques (dimensional/Kimball modelling, data vault star schema).
Experience in the development of Data Warehouses, Data Products, Reports, Dashboards, and data self-service capabilities.
If you're seeking to work for an organisation that values improving society, join us at Whanau Awhina Plunket. In line with our values, we believe in caring for our people, to support your wellbeing and ongoing professional growth.
Work from home and the office.
Various wellbeing schemes such as a Wellbeing day: use one of your sick leave days to proactively protect your wellbeing.
An enhanced parental leave scheme to support growing whanau.
