Permanent position - based in Wellington or Auckland

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

As Data and Insight Specialist, you will champion a new way of thinking to our team, where our performance data becomes meaningful and guides the development of our business improvement efforts. You will also play a critical part in driving the business group's performance culture by providing illuminating reporting and analysis. You will help our leaders make more effective decisions by enabling well-informed discussions based on evidence.

Your work will support performance reporting and management, business planning, business improvement, and ongoing efforts to ensure we operate efficiently and effectively as we work to achieve our strategic objectives and positive transport outcomes for New Zealand.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

Experience implementing data best practices including data visualisation, maintenance, accuracy, consistency, and reliability

Ability to translate data into business insight and management choices for decision-making

Expertise in using Microsoft Power BI or similar toolset to develop compelling data visualisation

Strong analytical skills, critical thinking, and attention to detail, but with the ability to stand back and support strategic objectives

Ability to deliver reporting and analysis that brings the data to life - telling the story that will surface priority issues that impact performance

Effective stakeholder engagement and management skills

Strong communication and customer service skills, and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment

Relevant experience in complex organisations in planning, work scheduling, and workflow management
