The Data Compliance Manager will hold responsibility across both Australia and New Zealand and will work directly with all Clanwilliam Group businesses.
This position will report to the Chief Legal Officer.
Key Responsibility Areas: Provide expert knowledge in privacy and data protection and practical guidance and advice to the business on a variety of data protection matters and on day to day compliance queries ;Review and identify data protection and privacy risks and develop an associated framework to address;Support the businesses in informing and advising all employees of the companies on their obligations under data protection laws;Propose and develop technical and organisational measures to ensure appropriate security of personal data as well as developing and implementing organisational controls, policies and procedures that may be required to implement to mitigate any risks identified;Advise management on decisions that pose data protection implications for the Clanwilliam group;Play a key role in assessing and understanding the technical and operational requirements in the data landscape and operating environment of each of the businesses in Clanwilliam ANZ, from a data protection and privacy compliance perspective;Provide data protection and privacy support and advice across all areas of the business;Report on significant data protection and privacy risk and compliance issues and relevant updates and significant programme developments;Review the data protection provisions in customer and supplier contracts;Assist with on-going projects including commercial agreements and acquisitions from a data protection and privacy perspective;Assist with the investigation and management of potential breaches/instances of non-compliance, working with other stakeholders on incident response for any privacy breaches; andDevelop and maintain a privacy risk register and associated standard operating procedures (SOPs) and policies required.What's in it for you?
Supportive and people focused cultureWork as part of a global team in a multifaceted roleHybrid and flexible working environment Birthday leave and sick leave from day 1Company carparkAbout You You will have: A privacy/data protection qualification preferable and/or relevant prior experience in a similar role in Australia or New Zealand;At least 2 years' experience in data protection or a related discipline (data governance, management, law, regulation or compliance);Experience in reviewing and drafting policies;Experience in reviewing and drafting privacy clauses in commercial agreements (preferred);Proven commercial awareness and pragmatism;Strong attention to detail;Excellent interpersonal and people management skills;Flexibility and adaptability;A willingness to take a practical, hands on approach alongside guiding & advising;Ability to constructively challenge and find pragmatic solutions;Ability to work in a cross-functional and geographically dispersed environment with multiple stakeholders and teams; Track record of working on your own initiative and as part of a team.This is a unique opportunity to work in a vital role within an organisation with a compelling purpose.
