We are looking for an experienced Data Analyst / Technical Business Analyst to join the OrbitRemit team in Wellington, NZ. This is an exciting opportunity to provide meaningful input towards the development of a growing business whilst working in a friendly, cross-functional team environment.

What you will work on
In collaboration with the wider data team, you will build DRY style semantic data models using a modern BI abstraction layer. Develop, maintain, and enhance Looker dashboards and reports to support business decision-making.
Conduct detailed data analysis using both structured and unstructured data to generate actionable insights that drive product improvements. Perform data validation and ensure data integrity checks across key data sets.
Assist the development and implementation of data governance and privacy practices.
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
Provide ad-hoc data-related assistance to our marketing, product, and compliance teams.
What you would need to know
A minimum of 2 years experience working as a data analyst, data engineer, technical business analyst or similar role.
Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and proficiency in SQL.
You will have prior experience with modern BI tools (e.g. Looker, Tableau, etc.)
Prior experience working with a semantic data modeling layer (previous LookML experience is highly preferable, but an understanding of the benefits version-controlled business logic as code, and a willingness to learn LookML, is ok too!).
Familiarity with data governance and privacy standards.
English as a working language.
Nice to have
Prior experience working with Big Query.
An understanding of persistence strategies (or experience implementing them via the data model layer).
Familiarity with ETL/ELT processes and tools such as Dataform or DBT would be a bonus, but not essential.
A tertiary qualification in a relevant field (Business, Statistics, Computer Science, etc.) is highly preferable.
Knowledge or experience in data engineering would be highly desirable.
Experience with Python or R for data analysis would be a bonus.
