They will provide counselling and plans that define goals for clients that can be met 'in-house' and refer those with more intensive, acute and/or complex needs to third-party providers in liaison with the lead counsellor. They will need to demonstrate competency around developing risk assessments and management plans and have the ability to access external agencies when appropriate.The role will support clients in exploring their difficulties/concerns, promote positive relationships and promote awareness of difference.The successful candidate will be empathetic, organised, a skilled communicator and enjoy working with children. Ideally, they would maintain professional membership and registration with the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC), or a similar professional association, and comply with their Code of Ethics.
