At Whangarei District Council we are passionate about making our community a thriving and positive place to live and work. With strong development in our district, and a supportive, diverse working environment, in an organisation which values its community and its people, there's never been a better time to make the move to Whangarei District Council.
About the role This role is responsible for overseeing, reviewing, managing, and approving access requests on our roading corridor. The purpose is to ensure works across Whangarei's Local Road Network are completed in accordance with the National Code of Practice for Utility Operators' Access to the Transport Corridor, New Zealand Guide to Temporary Traffic Management, and Council's special conditions and requirements.
About you We're more interested in attitude and skill as opposed to extensive experience, so if you're a fast learner who has a current or previous traffic management background qualification, a working knowledge of the National Code of Practice for Utility Operators' Access to the Transport Corridor, and/or experience of working in the road corridor this may be an opportunity for you.
Integral to this role is your ability to communicate with contractors and stakeholders - your great interpersonal skills including being empathetic to client's complex situations and ability to converse with a diverse range of people will set you up for success. Working knowledge of the RAMM Submitica Control corridor access system will be valuable; however, training will be provided to the right candidate. Most importantly, we want someone with a great attitude who is adaptable and keen to make a great contribution.
Working within Council Here at Whangarei District Council, we take genuine pride in having one of New Zealand's most welcoming and supportive work environments, with the awards to prove it. We continually strive to provide the best working environment for our people. Part of this satisfaction comes from knowing we make a difference with the work we do. Our organisation is small enough for independent work to be valued, and big enough to make an impact within our community.
We also proudly offer additional 'on the job' benefits in the form of:
