Job Title: IT SpecialistLocation: Palmerston North, New Zealand Defence ForceAbout the role:Understand and control the Army's deployable computer and radio networks that keep our forces in-the-know across the battlespace. IT Specialists are responsible for modern technologies and equipment that enable voice and data communications, as well as providing technical support across the Army.Responsibilities:Establishing voice or data radio networksEngineering satellite terminalsMaintaining secure computer networks with a range of services and applicationsProviding IT support to soldiers in various environmentsEnsuring IT equipment is maintained and functional for deploymentTraining:You will complete your first year of training as an IT Specialist, followed by specialized training in one of five specific roles:Radio Frequency TechnicianInformation Management SpecialistInformation Systems OperatorSystems EngineerElectronic Warfare OperatorCareer progression:As you progress, you may step into leadership roles, commanding others or providing instruction and training to soldiers.Salary and benefits:Starting salary is $51,265, with opportunities for salary increases as you gain experience and promotions. Additional benefits include free and subsidized health care, access to subsidized equipment, and opportunities for sponsored tertiary study.Entry requirements:Must be a NZ CitizenAt least 18 years of age at completion of Basic TrainingMinimum NCEA Level 2 achieved (or international equivalent)Must be medically fit for serviceMust meet minimum entry fitness standardsReady to start your Army career?
