Join us as a Tax Manager in our vibrant team of trusted business advisors in Kirikiriroa / Hamilton. We pride ourselves on being the leading professional services firm in New Zealand, fueled by our energetic and innovative team. In this role, you will provide strategic tax consulting and compliance services to a diverse range of clients. You will be instrumental in solving complex business problems, managing tax projects, and providing strategic tax risk management and advisory services.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage tax projects by applying your understanding of legislation and case law to produce well-researched and analysed tax opinions.
Review tax calculations (current and deferred) and tax returns, advise on compliance with tax legal requirements, and understand the relevance of financial statements to the tax function.
Conduct tax reviews of corporate clients, identifying tax issues and consultancy opportunities.
Assist Partners and Directors in managing client relationships proactively, formulating solutions to client problems, and identifying value-added opportunities.
Continuously improve your knowledge and adapt to new information, contributing to the enhancement of our in-house systems, technology, and procedures.
Provide support and guidance to junior staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
Nga pukenga kei a koe / Skills and experience 4+ years proven experience in a tax specialist role in a commercial, government or CA environment.
Experience in preparing and reviewing complex income tax returns, interpreting tax legislation and financial information, engaging with tax authorities on behalf of clients and managing client relationships.
Experience in working to resolve tax disputes with tax authorities, assisting with tax due diligence projects, and proven strong tax research skills.
A relevant Bachelor's degree related to tax, accounting, or a closely related subject.
CA qualified, or have relevant post graduate qualification in tax.
Proactive and results oriented approach.
Experienced with technology-based solutions.
Exceptional communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with clients and staff.
Ability to inspire teamwork, supervise, coach and support team members including assisting with the review and evaluation of staff performance.
Experience in preparing and reviewing financial statements and the use of Taxlab will be considered favourably.
