Consultant Psychiatrist – Te Roopu Whitiora, Mental Health & Addiction Services, Northland Permanent, part-time position (0.4 FTE) Te Roopu Whitiora (Adult Kaupapa Maori Service) Whangarei, Northland NZ The Mental Health and Addiction Services at Te Whatu Ora, Te Tai Tokerau are seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join Te Roopu Whitiora (Adult Kaupapa Maori Service). Te Roopu Whitiora provides a specialist kaupapa Maori service for Maori between the ages of 18 - 65 years old using a blend of both clinical and cultural approaches with a strong emphasis on equity. This is a permanent role based in Whangarei New Zealand with travel to the rural regions. We encourage applications from Consultant Psychiatrists with a strong interest in working within a Kaupapa Maori environment, registrar teaching/ supervision and leadership of clinical teams. Te Whatu Ora, Te Tai Tokerau provides public health services across the Northland region, from north of Wellsford to Cape Reinga serving a growing population of around 190,000. Te Whatu Ora, Te Tai Tokerau is committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and holds stewardship for equitable health outcomes for Maori as Tangata Whenua as the highest priority. To be considered you must have or be eligible for specialist registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) in either a vocational or locum tenens – special purpose Psychiatry scope of practice. FRANZCP and / or post graduate qualifications are preferred; however, we are happy to hear from those near completion of their studies. If you are currently overseas / not yet registered, we can assist you with the application process to obtain MCNZ registration. Northland District Health Board is also an Approved Accredited Employer by New Zealand Immigration.
