Mo te turanga - About the role
Queenstown Lakes District has a permanent, rapidly growing population of around 30000 and a regular influx of tourist population. You will work within a small multi-disciplinary team and be responsible for the psychiatric assessment and care of patients. This is the best place for work-life balance! Working with us means taking on a leading role in maintaining and enhancing our Mental Health service.
Your responsibilities will include assessment and treatment while working collaboratively with the primary health sector consistent with our values. There is also a requirement to contribute to ongoing service improvement and workforce innovation. You will be able to join our regular meetings with our base hospitals through video conferencing. There is a requirement to contribute to the Southland after-hours on-call roster, but the frequency can be negotiated. Part-time applicants and requests for flexibility will be considered. While all colleagues (including part-time ones) undertake on-call duties, we will negotiate a schedule that accommodates work-life balance in Queenstown!
Mou ake - About you
As a Consultant Psychiatrist with previous general adult experience in either an inpatient or community setting, you will have a personal commitment to maintaining high standards of practice and an unequivocal dedication to working as part of a team. Your ability to provide clinical leadership and reliable medical input to the multi-disciplinary team is pivotal to the position. You will have a strong commitment to service user and family/whanau inclusion in service delivery and a focus on recovery. You will also have a sound understanding and commitment to biculturalism. A demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development and providing training to students at all levels is essential. Fellowship with the RANZCP or equivalent is required, and you must be eligible for registration with the NZ Medical Council. A full driver's licence is essential for this role.

Utu whanui - Salary range
This role belongs to the ASMS Collective Agreement and falls between Step 1 ($185,380) and Step 15 ($267,980 per annum pro rata).
