We proudly strive to provide top-quality healthcare to our diverse older population, and we are recruiting for a Consultant Psychiatrist based at Dunedin Hospital.
Mo te turanga About the role
As part of a small multi-disciplinary team, you will be responsible for the psychiatric assessment and care of patients, taking a leading role in maintaining and enhancing our Mental Health service.
Your responsibilities will include assessment and treatment of older persons while working collaboratively with the primary health sector consistent with Southern's values. You will contribute to ongoing service improvement and workforce innovation. Participation in the on-call roster is required, which is currently 1:18.
Mou ake About you
Fellowship with the RANZCP or equivalent is essential, and ideally, you will have current registration with the NZ Medical Council. As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will have a personal commitment to maintaining high standards of practice and an unequivocal dedication to teamwork.
Your ability to provide clinical leadership and reliable medical input to the multi-disciplinary team is pivotal. A strong commitment to service user and family/whanau inclusion in service delivery, along with a focus on recovery and a sound understanding of biculturalism, is essential. You should also demonstrate a commitment to continuing professional development and providing training to students at all levels.
We welcome applications from Advanced Trainees who are about to complete their final six months of training as a fellow with supervision or Psychiatrists interested in advanced training.

This role belongs to the 2024 ASMS Collective Agreement and falls between Step 1 ($185,380) and Step 15 ($267,980 p.a prorata).
