The Mental Health & Addiction Services at Te Whatu Ora Te Tai Tokerau are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Mid-North team to provide an effective service to the Bay of Island's & Hokianga community. This is a permanent, part-time position (0.8 FTE).
This role is part of Northland's wider Mental Health Services, which cover the entire region from Wellsford to the Cape. Inpatient services are provided from our larger service in Whangarei with peer support from colleagues in Whangarei; Kaikohe, Kerikeri and Kaitaia.
Here is the opportunity to live and practice in a more rural area of Northland, ideally suiting someone with strong interest in rural psychiatry and interested in a country farm or beach lifestyle. This position also involves both conducting community clinics, and clinical input into our Sub-Acute Unit.

Te Whatu Ora Te Tai Tokerau provides a specialist clinical mental health and addiction service to the Northland region, from north of Wellsford to Cape Reinga serving a growing population of around 190,000. These services are designed to cater for people with significant mental illness and/or addiction that is beyond the scope of primary care services.
To be considered you must have or be eligible for specialist registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) in either a vocational or locum tenens – special purpose Psychiatry scope of practice. FRANZCP and/or postgraduate qualifications specific to Child and Youth psychiatry are desirable; however, we are happy to hear from those near completion of their studies. If you are currently overseas/not yet registered, we can assist you with the application process to obtain MCNZ registration. Northland District Health Board is also an Approved Accredited Employer by New Zealand Immigration.
