The Mental Health and Addiction Services at Te Whatu Ora, Te Tai Tokerau are seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Inpatient Unit team. This is a permanent, full-time position (1.0 FTE).
Te Whatu Ora, Te Tai Tokerau is committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and holds stewardship for equitable health outcomes for Maori as Tangata Whenua as the highest priority.
This position provides clinical care in the inpatient setting in the Tumanako Inpatient Unit and He Manu Pae Sub-acute Unit at Whangarei Hospital. We encourage applications from Consultant Psychiatrists with a strong interest in acute care, registrar teaching and supervision and leadership of clinical teams.
Te Whatu Ora, Te Tai Tokerau provides public health services across the Northland region, from north of Wellsford to Cape Reinga serving a growing population of around 190,000.

To be considered you must have or be eligible for specialist registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) in either a vocational or locum tenens – special purpose Psychiatry scope of practice. FRANZCP and / or post graduate qualifications, however happy to hear from those near completion of their studies. If you are currently overseas / not yet registered, we can assist you with the application process to obtain MCNZ registration. Te Whatu Ora, Te Tai Tokerau is also an Approved Accredited Employer by New Zealand Immigration.
