Through integration and collaboration, we're building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whanau-centred care, and excellence.About the RoleYou will work alongside other psychiatrists to provide clinical care of the patients in the ward, both directly and through supervising other staff, particularly the junior medical staff. Consultant Psychiatrist input is essential in a range of clinical activities, including 24-hour seclusion reviews, periodic reviews of treatment, statutory assessments under the Mental Health (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act 1992 and decisions about leave and discharge.The Mental Health Service has a robust Peer Review Group and you will have access to CPD activities to meet ongoing registration requirements.About the Team/Service/LocationNga Rau Rakau is the acute admission facility for seriously mentally ill people in the Hawkes Bay region. Our team consists of staff from a wide variety of backgrounds who are skilled in supporting people who live with severe mental illnesses and their whanau.About youYou will be vocationally registered in Psychiatry with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) or hold equivalent qualification and be able to qualify for vocational registration with MCNZ.You will:Be able to provide clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team, with a commitment to continuous quality improvement.Be competent with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth.Have experience in projects/initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings.Working for Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is 'the weaving of wellness'.
