Position: Consultant Paediatrician/Advanced Trainee

About the role It's really important to us that you're a Specialist or final year RACP trainee who believes that the patient is at the centre of all that you do, actively including family/whanau as a standard part of your practice. Your communication skills, with patients and your colleagues will be excellent, and your ability to contribute within a positive team environment will be essential. In this role you'll be exposed to a wide and varied pathology and supported by strong links with tertiary providers throughout New Zealand. You will provide comprehensive general paediatric inpatient and outpatient care and support a level two Neonatal service with up to 1,600 deliveries per annum. There is potential to focus on outpatient care only. Our team also provides outreach/rural outpatient clinics in Gore and Queenstown.
We have close working relationships with our colleagues at Dunedin Hospital and in particular with the team who work in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), the closest tertiary provider and referral centre. The Paediatric Department is actively involved in teaching, and we are affiliated with the Dunedin School of Medicine, actively supporting 5th and 6th year medical students, and acting in Senior Lecturer roles with the School of Medicine.
About you As an outstanding team player, you'll have the energy to make a positive difference with both patients and colleagues alike. You must be FRACP qualified (or equivalent) and hold, or be eligible for, vocational registration with Medical Council of NZ. We would consider candidates who are close to completing your specialist training and be eligible for vocational registration with Medical Council of New Zealand.
You will also need the following: Competency with te ao Maori, tikanga, and te reo Maori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth
Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principles and frameworks, and the application of Matauranga Maori and Kaupapa Maori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings

Salary range This role belongs to the ASMS Collective Agreement and falls between Step 1 ($185,380) and Step 15 ($267,980 per annum pro rata).
