Our client, a leading healthcare provider in Northland, New Zealand, is seeking an experienced Consultant General Surgeon with a colorectal subspecialty to join their dedicated surgical team. This post is based in a 260 bed public sector hospital which supports a series of small hospitals across the region, providing a wide range of medical, surgical, maternity, mental health, and children's health services.
Position Overview
In this role, you will join a team of eight general surgeons, each with their own subspecialist interests. As a Consultant General Surgeon with a colorectal subspecialty, you will contribute to the provision of core surgical services and outpatient services at three regional hospitals.
Responsibilities
Provide expert colorectal surgical care.
Participate in a 1:8 on-call roster with registrar and house officer support.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary departments across the hospital to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Contribute to audit, advanced trainee registrar teaching, house surgeon supervision, and medical student teaching.
Engage in ongoing education and develop special interests within the field of general surgery.
Requirements
FRACS or equivalent specialist qualification in general surgery.
Eligibility for vocational or provisional vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
Post-fellowship experience and proven knowledge of modern colorectal surgery skills and techniques.
Strong teamwork and adaptability skills to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
