Community Support Worker - Residential - Wellington Part time - 30 hours per week
Salary: $23.38 - $29.10

We want you if you have: The ability to read situations and respond quicklyA sense of humourEmpathy and patienceSkills in social media & gamingA passion for music and entertainmentAn interest in recycling and repurposingIn this role as a Support Worker, you would be supporting a group of interesting young adults who are involved in their community. They have strong personalities and enjoy a good laugh. They want someone who enjoys socializing, gaming, going out for lunch or dinner, attending events, visiting pools for a spa, car shows, and hanging out as flatmates.
The flatmates all have intellectual disabilities and need support to maintain current interests and relationships, and to develop new ones. Practical responsibilities include helping them learn to manage their budgets, cook healthy meals, and assist with day-to-day chores. Just like everyone, they need guidance to manage life's usual challenges—friendships, love, jobs, health, and more. The ideal person will be self-motivated, organized, a great communicator and connector, have good energy, and be intuitive. You need to be able to read situations and know when to step forward and when to step back.
The flatmates don't need hands-on support for personal care, but they do require a lot of emotional support. They want someone who will help them keep in contact with their families and other important people in their lives.
We provide 24-hour support, which consists of a rotating roster from Monday through to Sunday. There will be an expectation of some admin work during this time to support the team, as the days are busy.
