Job Description
Pact is currently looking for a full time Community Support Worker to work in our crisis respite service in the Wellington area.
The Role
Pact is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic person to work alongside people recovering from mental illness. We are seeking an individual who will inspire, encourage, be a role model, plus have excellent interpersonal skills and a 'can do' attitude.
Your role will include coordinating meaningful activities, encouraging client participation, assistance with daily house tasks, and supporting individuals to set and achieve their goals. Further assisting in gaining and maintaining social, health, education, whanau and cultural reconnection.
Your days may vary, but will consist of:
Engaging with clients.
Setting and achieving individual personal goals
Encouraging client participation in day to day life
Supporting them with activities of daily living
Ensuring support with medication and considering client needs
Supporting clients with personal hygiene
Activities within the community
Supporting social and whanau connection
Motivating clients to know they have purpose
Ensuring client processes are accurately documented
Most importantly supporting them to have fun and live fulfilling lives
As we operate 24/7, hours of work will include day, evening, weekend and awake night shifts.
The hours of work are at present: 80 hours per fortnight, Friday to Tuesday (including awake night shifts)
Desired Skills and Experience
Excellent communication and networking skills with the ability to build and sustain working relationships with our client, staff and external agencies is essential. Previous professional experience in the mental health field is desirable.
A level 4 or other relevant qualification in mental health is also desirable but not essential. Otherwise, there is an expectation that you will be willing to start working towards obtaining a level 4 mental health qualification after your first year of employment.
A full driver's licence and computer skills are essential.
If on a work visa, this must be valid for at least twelve months
Must be available for an interview in Wellington
