Pact is a major provider of community, vocational and residential based intellectual disability, mental health and addictions services across Southland, Otago, West Coast and the Lower North Island. We are looking for someone with a passion for supporting people with high and complex needs to lead fulfilling lives in the community. Our services provide a safe and positive environment where our clients are assisted to achieve maximum independence.
The Role
Your role will include supporting clients to participate in meaningful activities in the community, assisting with daily house tasks, and helping with personal hygiene. You will further assist in gaining and maintaining social, health, education, whanau, and cultural reconnection.
Excellent communication and networking skills, along with the ability to build and sustain working relationships with clients, staff, and external agencies, are essential. Previous professional experience in the intellectual disability field will be an advantage.
Your days may vary, but will consist of:
Engaging with clients.
Setting and achieving individual personal goals.
Encouraging client participation in day-to-day life.
Supporting activities of daily living.
Ensuring support with medication and considering client needs.
Supporting clients with personal hygiene.
Participating in community activities.
Supporting social and whanau connections.
Motivating clients to recognize their purpose.
Documenting client processes accurately.
Most importantly, supporting them to have fun and live fulfilling lives.
As we operate 24/7, hours of work will include day, evening, weekend, awake night, and sleepover shifts. Current hours of work are 80 hours per fortnight.
Pact is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic person to work alongside people with an intellectual disability who will inspire, encourage, and be a role model, plus possess excellent interpersonal skills and a 'can do' attitude.
A full driver's licence and computer skills are essential.
If on a work visa, this must be valid for at least twelve months.
If shortlisted, you must be available for an interview in Cromwell.
