Mo te turanga | About the role
Provide recovery-orientated activities for people referred from the Mental Health, Addictions, and Intellectual Disability Service.
Provide a safe and supportive environment where people can develop or regain life and living skills, enjoy supportive relationships with others and exchange information whilst participating in activities.
Promote opportunities for self-determination and well-being, empowering consumers to reconnect, integrate and participate fully with their community.
Assist in supporting and organising event and activity programmes.
Develop a flexible and varied programme of activities and input into the running of the day activity centres, with client participation.
To be successful in this position, you will be able to demonstrate the following:
Demonstrated recent community-based experience.
Ability to provide quality responsive care and professionalism.
Excellent time management skills and experience facilitating activities and groups.
Have a positive attitude that can inspire others to do great things, with a dynamic outlook.
Hold a Mental Health Support Workers Certificate/Diploma and/or a relevant tertiary qualification with training or experience in Mental Health.
A current New Zealand driver licence is essential to this role as it involves some travelling within the Southland region and you will be required to operate a van to take people using the service to various activities and events as required.

This role belongs to the DHB/PSA Allied, Public Health, Scientific and Technical Multi-Employer Collective Agreement and falls between Step 1 ($24.84 per hour) and Step 5 ($29.79 per hour) of the Level 1 Health and Community Workers & Allied, Public Health and Dental Assistants scale.
