Our goals for rakatahi and whanau are to provide sustainable transitions with improved self-management and long-term resiliency.We are committed to strengthening our partnerships with Maori, improving our bicultural practices across our entire organisation, and using our skills and resources to honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi and support positive outcomes for Maori.About the RoleThis is a fixed-term contract to 13 June 2025 to cover a Parental Leave positionThe Taituara a Hapori - Community Services Specialist supports this by working with rakatahi based in our Youth and Young Mums Transition Houses and their whanau. The Taituara a Hapori helps individuals and whanau in our service develop or acquire new skills, knowledge, and resources, so they may better reach their life objectives.The core elements of this work are:Privileging the individual and whanau voice and choices;Close attention to individual and whanau desires and expectations, self-knowledge, and resiliency;A focus on skills development and knowledge-building;The use of evidence-backed tools including Maori models of practice and frameworks;An outcome-orientation;Constant checking on progress.What's in it for you:Provide the opportunity to support youth and whanau in our community.Receive initial and ongoing training with FIT (Feedback Informed Treatment) tools used to measure progress.Provide supervision, in-service training and external courses as available and agreed.Be supported by a wellbeing employer providing:An Employee Assistance Programme (counselling).Tailored Professional Learning and Development.15 days sick leave a year with no waiting period.Flexible and whanau-friendly working arrangements where possible.To be successful in the role you will:Have had work experience or training in education, advocacy services, occupational/speech language therapy, or community development.Be client led, using client voice and client solutions to achieve positive outcomes.Have experience in working alongside Maori and people from a diverse range of communities.Be flexible and responsive.Have excellent interpersonal, time management, written and oral communication skills.Be ethical, self-motivated and passionate about supporting people.Have a clear understanding of boundaries and professional behaviour.A full driver license (mandatory).To apply for this role please register on the Careers Portal on the Methodist Mission Southern Website and complete the pre-screening questions.
