COMMUNITY RESILIENCE COORDINATOR Full-time, Benefited—2 Year Term (possibility for extension) The Regional District of Central Kootenay (RDCK) is inviting applications for the position of Community Resilience Coordinator. The Community Resilience Coordinator provides engagement and communication leadership, project coordination, and operational support for the Community Sustainability Team. The role provides regional coordination and consistency in community resilience planning, design, consultation, and implementation across the RDCK (Regional District of Central Kootenay) and municipal program partners. The position supports Climate Action, Emergency Preparedness and Mitigation, and Disaster Risk Reduction and Adaptation communication and engagement. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Professional written and verbal communication skills Proficiency in public speaking and making effective presentations to various audiences Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Strong active listening and facilitation skills Demonstrated experience delivering innovative practices for public engagement and rural policy development Knowledge of local government structures, provincial climate action/resilience programs Knowledge of emergency management or crisis communications is an asset Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders Ability to work independently within a collaborative, teamwork approach Ability to exercise good judgment and to adjust priorities under changing conditions REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Post secondary diploma that includes coursework in community resilience, climate action, communications, public engagement or a related discipline Minimum 2 years demonstrated experience with rural climate action policy, change management, program development with an experience in public outreach and consultation An acceptable combination of related work experience and education with strengths in climate action and community resilience may be considered. Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and satisfactory drivers abstract Satisfactory Criminal Record Check This is a full-time 2-year term position working 35 hours per week. Also included is a comprehensive benefits package. The position may be eligible for enrolment in the Municipal Pension Plan (MPP) as per MPP guidelines. The normal annual entry salary for this position is $61,104 with a range from $58,447 to $66,417 commensurate with experience.
