As a key player in emergency management, we work tirelessly to prepare for, respond to, and recover from a wide range of emergencies and adverse events.Te aheinga - The opportunityDue to an internal promotion we are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join us in the role of Emergency Management Advisor - Community Resilience. If you are committed to building a resilient community and thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment, we want to hear from you!Key Responsibilities:Lead the development and delivery of capability encompassing community hazard and risk awareness and preparedness programs, in partnership with the Council Emergency management teams.Plan, support, and help district Emergency Management staff to deliver targeted public education campaigns that will improve community awareness of hazards, risks, and emergencies, culturally and economically diverse communities, contributing to a more resilient Taranaki.Relationship building and networking with community and special interest groups such as iwi, religious, cultural, and disability.Developing and maintaining a regional approach to Community Response Groups, Community Response Plans and Community Emergency Centres in preparation for emergencies.Maintain regional relationships for Spontaneous Volunteer Coordination during response/in preparation for response.Participate in a 24-hour regional duty officer capability.Assist training and exercising activities on a regional level and supporting at a local level.Assist in the maintenance, in a state of readiness, the Taranaki Civil Defence Emergency Management Group's facilities and operational systems, including Group Emergency Centre facilities, equipment, operating procedures and guidelines.Actively ensure that legislative requirements and Council policies and procedures are fulfilled, particularly in relation to all key relevant legislation.Minimum Requirements:At least two years previous experience in community development, emergency management, or in another relevant field.Experience in the delivery of training or capability development.Have attended (or are prepared to attend) courses relevant to a hazard assessment and risk reduction within civil defence emergency management (Unit standards in Civil Defence-related qualifications, Level 4 CIMS, and/or coordinator centre training would be an advantage, but not essential).A knowledge of legislation applicable to civic defence and emergency management and local government organisational structure.Proven experience leading and motivating others and proven ability to build sound relationships with stakeholders.He aha ai a Taranaki? - Why Taranaki?With the stunning Mt Taranaki as a backdrop and the warm iron sands along our coast, it is no wonder Taranaki is one of the best regions in New Zealand and the world.
