Contract: Permanent, Full Time
Salary: Basesalary is $81,683 to $106,739 NZNO/ PSA based on skills and experience
Our nurses provide liaison and consultation to and between Youth Courts, Prisons, Youth Justice Departments, Child Youth and Family, Mental Health, Police, Government and Community Agencies on mental health and addiction matters and the management of associated problems within the identified agency.
The nurse utilises clinical and medical-legal knowledge and skills to provide a quality rapid assessment of Pacific youth identified as having or who may have a mental health and addiction problem.
The regional arm of Te Korowai-Whariki includes the Central Regional Forensic Mental Health Service which operates at the interface between Mental Health Services and the Justice System and works within the following settings - prisons, courts, community, and inpatient. The Service offers assessment and rehabilitation services to defendants charged with criminal offences and offenders who have psychiatric illness.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong interpersonal and therapeutic communication skills with clients, nursing staff, and other professionals, as well as proficiency in communication and documentation. Key responsibilities include client assessment and care management, tailored to meet clients' needs and supported by nursing knowledge and evidence-based research.
Essential Professional Qualifications, Accreditations, and Experience:
Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ)
Current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) with a scope appropriate to the workplace
Completion of an undergraduate program (leading to registration) or postgraduate program in mental health nursing
Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi's significance and obligations, with the ability to apply its principles meaningfully in the nursing role
Broad knowledge of Pacific cultures and models of care, with proficiency in one or more Pacific languages
Commitment to achieving equitable outcomes for Pacific communities
Personal dedication to ongoing professional development
