Company and role: We are delighted to be working with Guild and Spence Technologies Ltd, who are seeking a Communications Technician to join their Lower Hutt branch. Job responsibilities: Install, configure and maintain communication systems, including but not limited to Telephone systems, Data networks, Wireless communication devices, Fiber optic cables, Satellite systems and Radio communication equipment. Troubleshoot system malfunctions, identify root causes, and perform necessary repairs. Conduct regular inspections and evaluations of communication infrastructure to identify weaknesses, potential risks, or compliance issues, and take appropriate action to address them. Coordinate with other technical teams to ensure proper integration and functioning of communication systems with other organisational systems. Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to define, implement, and maintain the organisation's communication technology standards and protocols. Manage and maintain inventory of communication equipment, ensuring all records are accurate and up to date. Keep up to date with emerging industry trends, tools, and technologies related to communication systems. Qualifications and Skills: Relevant certifications in communication systems or networks are highly desirable. Experience working as a communications technician or in a similar technical role is required Proven experience installing, configuring and maintaining various communication systems is essential. At least 3-5 years' experience as a technician would be advantageous. Strong technical knowledge and practical skills in communication systems, including telephone systems, data networks, wireless communication devices, fiber optic cables, satellite systems and radio communication equipment. Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing communication system malfunctions. Familiarity with industry-standard communication protocols and technologies. Ability to interpret technical specifications, manuals and schematics Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effectively coordinating with other technical teams and stakeholders.
