Permanent full-time role with flexibility in location within Te Ika a Maui (North Island) Flexibility and willingness to travel, spending periods of time away from home (a full driver licence is required).

He angituatanga | About the role We have a vacancy for an experienced Kaitohutohu Whakapaa (Communications Advisor).
You will provide effective, integrated communications and media support for our work and will be a key player in connecting Nga Whenua Rahui with Maori landowners, whanau, hapu and iwi, and our wider conservation stakeholders.
You will be managing media relationships for Nga Whenua Rahui and be the key contact for media enquiries as you tell our stories through multi channels.
This position would also be responsible for leading development of the Nga Whenua Rahui biennial report and Communications Strategy.
You will focus on: Supporting Nga Whenua Rahui with comms, media, marketing, web content, social media, brand and internal comms advice and ideas.
Managing relationships with Maori and mainstream media, be a key contact for media enquiries and work with regional and national media as required, to tell our stories.
Providing communications support for external engagements.
Nga pukenga me nga wheako | Skills and experience We are looking for someone who is fluent in te reo Maori and English, both verbal and written, and who enjoys making connections with others.
Minimum requirements for the role: Fluency in written and spoken te reo Maori and English.
Knowledge of hapu and iwi dynamics.
High standard of written and oral communication.
Comfortable working with people, not only in Government but within the Maori and wider communities.
Technologically savvy.
Flexibility and willingness to travel, spending periods of time away.
Strong focus on health, safety and wellbeing.
Full New Zealand driver licence.
Ideally you will have: Prior experience in public sector communications.
Knowledge of the Nga Whenua Rahui Fund and its relevance to Maori landowners.
Knowledge of the Maori political environment and government agencies whose role is to promote Maori achievement e.g.
Te Puni Kokiri, Te Tumu Paeroa.

The salary range for this position is $79,656 to $100,639 with the starting salary of the successful applicant being based on their relevant skills and experience.
