Te Runanga o Ngati Whatua are all about providing services and jobs that make the World a better place and develop services and commercial opportunities that transform the lives of the communities Te Runanga serves. They have a significant health delivery arm and other commercial interests.
The challenge
You will promote the Runanga and the interests of iwi, working closely with the leadership team, whilst researching and understanding the challenges and issues facing the iwi and Runanga. You will then plan, create, and oversee the design, content, production, and delivery of all communications materials to ensure an innovative, targeted, and impactful message in any media.
You will prepare and develop all marketing and branded materials, publications, and arrange events, maintain and enhance key contacts in the media. You will manage the website and develop all marketing collateral including any promotional videos, commission and manage external research, manage outside consultants as appropriate, and manage budgets and track costs.
The role also requires you to work directly with Marae and Post Settlement Entities and ensure that communications are appropriate and relevant to their needs. Te Runanga o Ngati Whatua is currently working its way through a treaty settlement and MACA claim, so you will be well-informed on these issues to ensure our uri members are abreast of progress.
About you
You will have knowledge of current issues in iwi development and experience in driving communications and executing strategy across multiple media.
Skills in face-to-face, written, and digital communication at an advanced level are essential. You will also be a fluent Te Reo speaker and writer with very strong interpersonal skills, a friendly personality, and an empathetic approach. We expect that you will be open-minded and respectful, worldly, bold, and savvy. Your high IQ and EQ will be evident. You will be a fast-learning, confident, innovative free thinker with intuition and instinct. You will be energetic, detail-oriented, and able to see and capitalize on opportunities.
You will have sufficient familiarity and confidence to communicate with diverse audiences as well as excellent listening skills. You will be an engaging public speaker, inspire confidence, be clear and concise, and be self-motivated to operate autonomously at all levels. You will be cooperative, collaborative, team-centered, and a model communicator. As travel about the motu is anticipated, you must have a driver's license.
