Kanoa – Regional Economic Development & Investment Unit (Kanoa – RD) is the focal point within Government for regional economic development (RED).
This position is part of the Investment Management team and reports to the Investment Director. As a Commercial Lead, you will partner with Investment Directors to lead the evaluation, contracting, and management of projects, as well as help deliver key work programmes within the Investment Management team. This includes regional and/or sector portfolio development. The successful candidate will have strong financial literacy and an in-depth understanding of debt and equity investment principles, with the majority of investments made under such structures.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
Knowledge and understanding of investment principles and investment evaluation methodologies.
A strong ability to evaluate investment opportunities aimed at developing and managing a regional portfolio that addresses competitive advantages and gaps in existing value chains.
The ability to discuss, defend, and be open to new information relating to possible investment opportunities as evaluations develop, with peers, Investment Directors, Head of Investment Management, Directors of Crown Regional Holdings Limited (CRHL), and Kanoa – RD SLT.
An ability to lead the development and delivery of debt and equity contracts with both internal and external legal resources.
An ability to help deliver specific work programmes within the Investment Management team of Kanoa – RD while managing competing priorities.
A demonstrated excellence in writing and presentation of information.
Tact, discretion, and a high level of trust when working with confidential and sensitive information.
Knowledge of the Machinery of Government.
Proven ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Tertiary qualification in a relevant field and/or comparable relevant experience.
Must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand.
