About the Role As a Commercial Accountant, you will work as part of a strategic team, providing valuable financial insights and analysis that influence business decisions across multiple divisions.
Your responsibilities will include conducting in-depth cost analyses, developing pricing models, and supporting the team with business development activities.
You'll work closely with operating units to ensure the seamless integration of financial strategies that drive business growth.
The current person in this role is being prepared for succession, meaning this is a critical position to ensure continuity and success within the division.
You will collaborate with a talented team, assisting with advanced testing and business analysis, ensuring the division's operations continue to thrive.
Key Responsibilities Conduct detailed cost analyses, including cost-benefit evaluation, whilst considering customer profitability, and life cycle considerations.
Develop and model pricing strategies for unique, non-repetitive projects.
Provide financial insights that inform key operational and strategic decisions.
Support business development activities, contributing to revenue generation through unique and complex project pricing.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensuring financial alignment with strategic goals.
Partner with team leaders to assist in succession planning and operational management.
Prepare operating unit management reporting and formal business performance reviews.
Partner with key business units to prepare plans and budgets in alignment with divisional guidelines and timeframes, incorporating appropriate challenge and analysis.
About You To succeed in this role, you should be analytically minded with a strong foundation in both finance and science.
Ideally, you have a background in chemistry, combined with professional accounting qualifications such as CA or CPA certification.
You should be comfortable working in a hands-on role where every day presents a new challenge, requiring flexibility and critical thinking.

Qualifications and Experience CA or CPA certification.
At least 5 years of experience in a commercial or operational accounting role.
A strong background or passion for chemistry (a double major in chemistry or general sciences and finance is ideal).
Proficiency in advanced Excel and Power BI, with solid skills in data analysis and dashboards.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
Experience leading or managing teams is preferred, as this role will involve supporting the team and ensuring operational continuity.
