ABOUT THE JOB:
Job Purpose:
We are looking for two COF B Inspectors, one to be located at our Mount Maunganui Workshop and the other at our Hinuera Workshop. As a COF B Inspector at RTC, you will play a vital role in maintaining safety and compliance standards within the heavy transport sector.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform detailed inspections of heavy vehicles to assess their mechanical condition and compliance with COF regulations.
Evaluate vehicle components such as brakes, suspension, steering, tires, and lights to ensure they meet safety standards.
Verify documentation and records to confirm vehicle ownership, registration, and compliance history.
Identify and document any defects or non-compliance issues found during inspections and recommend corrective actions as necessary.
Communicate inspection findings clearly and professionally to clients and stakeholders.
Maintain accurate records of inspection results, including digital reports and documentation.
Stay informed about changes in COF regulations and industry standards.
Collaborate with team members to optimise inspection processes and enhance service quality.
ABOUT YOU:
Legal and Other Requirements:
Must adhere to NZTA requirements and regulations.
Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols.
Qualification and Experience:
Possession of a Certificate of Fitness (COF) Inspector qualification issued by the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA), or willingness to gain qualification.
Proven experience in automotive inspection, with a focus on heavy vehicles.
COF A, WOF, COF PSV, COF B PSV is an advantage, not a necessity but willingness to gain.
Skills and Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of automotive systems and components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.
Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify defects or non-compliance issues accurately.
Proficiency in using inspection tools and equipment, including diagnostic software and testing devices.
Effective communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and team members.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also collaborating effectively within a team environment.
