Our mahi with Ngati Turangitukaha has been nationally recognised by Te Tohu Waka Hourua, winning the Buddle Findlay Award for Maori-Council Partnerships at the annual Taituara Awards Ceremony for our Mana Whakahono agreement. To support our focus on building co-governance across all we do, we are looking for a Co-Governance Management Partner to jointly lead the development, implementation, monitoring and review of Council's co-governance arrangements as guided by best practice models, statute, te Tiriti of Waitangi principles and settlement legislation. This role will take responsibility for building and maintaining effective relationships internally and externally with Iwi partners and hapu.
Working collaboratively across the organisation, you will co-lead the development and delivery of programmes to build organisational awareness of Council's co-governance arrangements and obligations whilst providing technical leadership on key Treaty of Waitangi issues district-wide with a particular focus on co-governance forums.
We are looking for a strategic thinker with experience working with iwi entities, hapu and Maori. Ideally, you will have experience in a local government setting and have developed existing iwi/hapu/Maori relationships across the Taupo district. You'll require knowledge and understanding of te reo Maori and demonstrated expertise in building positive, collaborative relationships. Project management skills are a must along with a practical working knowledge of the Resource Management Act (RMA), Local Government Act (LGA) and Public Works Act.
