CMM PROGRAMMER - SENIOR QUALITY INSPECTOR This role is within our Quality Assurance team and will ensure hardware received and produced in the Rocket Lab Long Beach facility conforms to engineering requirements through efficient and effective detection methods. In this role you will help prevent faulty hardware from progressing in the manufacturing process and support root cause mitigation and elimination of failure modes. You will support the Quality Manager and Production organization, with deliverables required for internal leadership, board of directors, and investors. WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO: Perform complex mechanical inspections for spacecraft assemblies and some purchased parts, 3D-printed components, large structures, CNC-machined items, electro-mechanical components, and solar panels. Perform all types of precision inspections including receiving, in process and final assembly. This includes capability to effectively use hand measurement systems, optical comparator, microscope, Romer arm and Laser tracker. Thoroughly document non-conformances in accordance with Rocket Lab systems and procedures in our internal ERP, MES and Issue tracking system. Collaborate with engineering and management to improve work instructions and identify critical inspection points in the process. Embody a Built in Quality philosophy, consistently detecting non-conformances (Don't accept a Defect – Don't Pass a Defect) and preventing escapes to downstream customers. YOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS AS A CMM PROGRAMMER - SENIOR QUALITY INSPECTOR: 8+ years of experience in a quality manufacturing environment. Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Demonstrated ability to program and operate a CMM (PC-Dmis and or Calypso). Demonstrated ability to operate a Laser tracker. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Willing to work 1st shift 5:00am - 3:30pm Monday – Thursday (4 Days X 10 Hrs.). Ability to travel and communicate outside of work hours. Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed. Repetitive assembly operations, grasping, standing, lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position. Must be able to lift up to 25lbs. unassisted. Base salary is just one component of our total rewards package at Rocket Lab.
