While not essential, previous experience with forensic, correctional, or other high risk-high needs clients would be an advantage.
You will be part of a supportive and experienced multidisciplinary team that provides specialist care to forensic clients in hospital, prison, and in the community.
As part of a regional service (covering Wellington, Manawatu, Whanganui, Hawkes Bay, Wairarapa, and Tairawhiti), you will also have the opportunity to be involved in wider service and local team development activities suitable to your skill-set and level of experience.
Mo to matou ropu - About our team Te Korowai Whariki (TKW) is an operational group of regional and national services that has staff based in various locations in the Central Region, from Gisborne to Wanganui through to Wellington.
Te Korowai Whariki services are both inpatient and community-based.
The regional arm of Te Korowai-Whariki includes the Central Regional Forensic Mental Health Service which operates at the interface between Mental Health Services and the Justice System.
The Service offers assessment and rehabilitation services to defendants charged with criminal offences and offenders who have psychiatric illness.
Mou - About you The ideal candidate(s) will have a sound understanding of mental health and addiction and the impact of these issues on clients, their whanau, and the community.
The work also includes some consultancy to other services and support for functioning and development of their teams and the organisation as a whole.
Good supervision will be provided both on an individual basis and as part of the multidisciplinary team review meetings.
You must have a minimum of a Masters Degree in Psychology and Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology or equivalent.
You must be registered with the NZ Psychologist Board and have a current annual practising certificate.
Duties Undertaking psychological assessments and interventions with clients in a forensic setting.
Liaising and working with a multi-disciplinary team.
Writing psychological reports to the court.
Providing consult-liaison to other services.
