We have an exciting 1FTE permanent opportunity for a senior nurse to progress your career as a Clinical Nurse Specialist within Intellectual Disability.Mo te tunga | About the role:Psychiatric Service for Adults with Intellectual Disabilities (PSAID) Inpatient Unit, is based at Hillmorton Hospital that specializes in the assessment and treatment of people with a dual diagnosis (intellectual disability and mental illness).
The multidisciplinary team actively involves tangata whaiora (consumers) in their care whilst collaborating with their whanau (family).
We focus on individual skills and abilities to maintain independence whilst encouraging the development of new skills.
We utilize a variety of communication techniques to support our tangata whaiora, to help them understand their treatment options and to make their own decisions.
We further promote engagement with the wider community to maintain social connections.
We advocate a continuum of care, liaising with the community outpatient team, residential providers, and caregivers to support successful discharge planning into the community setting.Pehea | About You:As the new Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will find yourself developing and extending nursing practice, assisting with performance appraisals, auditing, quality improvement, and providing overall clinical expertise and mentorship.
You will enable the team to continue to deliver a high standard of care to our tangata whaiora, whilst engaging with nursing kaimahi (staff) and members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure effective relationships are developed and maintained.Nga pukenga me nga wheako | Skills and experience:In order to be successful in this role, the following is required:Registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand with a current APC and mental health scopeMinimum three years experience working within mental healthHave a relevant postgraduate qualification, or be on the pathway to securing onePossess a depth of clinical nursing knowledge and leadership abilitySelf-motivated, flexible, and solutions-focusedBe an excellent communicator and a natural people personImpeccable time-management skills and process drivenThe ability to work autonomously and within a teamMo matou | About Us:Specialist Mental Health Services are an interdisciplinary team that forms part of Health NZ | Te Whatu Ora - Canterbury | Waitaha.
