Tuaropaki Trust (www.tuaropaki.com) is an Ahu Whenua Trust under the auspices of Te Ture Whenua Maori. There are more than 2,700 Owners, a mix of individuals, Whanau Trusts and Kaitiaki Trusts, all descended from the original Owners. The Trust is a kaitiaki for ancestral taonga and manages complex business interests in the food and energy sectors, with assets valued at approximately $1 billion.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Chief Strategy and Investment Officer is a new role established as part of a recent organisational change. The CS&IO is responsible for furnishing the Trust with insights that drive robust and efficient commercial decision making. The CSIO's specific responsibilities are to:
Measure, diagnose and report the performance and risk profile of all Trust portfolio and asset performance
Deliver accurate forecasts which support the Trust in its ongoing compliance and investment capacity
Deliver a suite of investment tools, frameworks and policies consistent with the Trust's objectives
Oversee corporate finance activities (e.g. M&A, divestments, financing)
Develop initiatives that manage risk and ensure opportunities are leveraged
Provide leadership and mentoring to reports, fostering a collaborative, positive and innovative work environment
Develop and maintain appropriate networks to access quality opportunities and access to capital
Ensure all Trust transactions, payments and journals are processed in an accurate and timely way
To be successful in this role, you will also have:
Experience at a top tier financial/investment advisory or management consultancy
Appropriate business, technical or professional university qualification – Chartered Accountant or Chartered Financial Analyst preferred
Highly proficient user of financial analysis and modelling tools e.g. BI, complex IRR models, complex cash flow models
Experience in driving ambitious and transformational change in financial SLAs
