About The Role We are excited to announce an incredible opportunity for a visionary and dynamic Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our team at Matomo. As our COO, you will lead and inspire the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), including the managers of Marketing, Sales, Customer Support & Success, Product, Engineering, Finance, and People & Culture. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will drive the company forward, achieving our organisational goals and ensuring alignment with our core purpose and strategic vision. Responsibilities Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with the CEO and SLT to develop and execute strategic plans aligned with Matomo's vision and objective. Guide department managers in implementing growth and profitability strategies, including adapting to market trends and competitive analysis. Support and influence the implementation of our core values: We do the right thing, We are open, We are courageous but not careless, We are remote, not distant, We play as a team, and We have impact. Operational Oversight: Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness across all departments, especially in a remote work setting. Implement and monitor operational policies and procedures to optimise performance, mitigate risks, and leverage remote work tools. Foster virtual team cohesion and implement remote work best practices. Build and scale the business from a centralised NZ base to a global remote workforce. Develop efficiencies and productivity of the business with AI tools. Schedule and coordinate the ISO27001 implementation with the guidance of our CISO. Team Management: Manage SLT members, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation. Provide mentorship and professional development to maximise individual and team performance. Develop and support the delivery and execution of project initiatives and work streams with a robust project management framework, assisted by the Strategic Project Manager. Performance Management: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure progress towards company goals. Take corrective action as necessary to ensure objectives are met or exceeded. Drive the execution and delivery of our established company and team goals and strategies. Sales & Marketing Collaboration: Collaborate with Marketing and Sales to develop and execute strategies that drive revenue growth and market penetration. Align sales and marketing efforts with overall business objectives. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Foster strong relationships and collaboration between departments to ensure seamless coordination and communication. Facilitate cross-functional initiatives to address challenges and capitalise on opportunities for improvement. Prepare and lead the engagement with a newly established advisory board. Financial Management: Exhibit strong commercial acumen in financial monitoring and management of company budgets and future forecasting. Develop a strong governance framework on risk management. Reporting and Communication: Regularly report to the CEO on organisational performance, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and areas for improvement. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to keep them informed and engaged in the company's progress. Qualifications 3-4 years experience in leading teams in a rapidly scaling SaaS company. Proven success in senior leadership roles in SaaS, preferably as a COO or equivalent, with direct management experience of a diverse team. Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate vision into action plans and measurable results. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build consensus and drive change across all levels of the organisation. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, fully remote environment, with resilience and adaptability. Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a related field; MBA or equivalent preferred. Knowledge of industry best practices and trends (SaaS, Analytics, Security, Privacy, Customer-centric, Product building), with a passion for continuous learning and innovation. Proven ability to develop and implement customer-centric strategies. High attention to detail and effective time management. Strong influence skills to get things done without formal command authority. Self-awareness and emotional intelligence. Benefits Remote work (save many hours on commute, and save money).
