Chief Merchandising Officer – Farmlands Co-operative Farmlands Co-operative Society Limited is a New Zealand based co-operative operating in the rural supplies and services sector. Established by farmers over 60 years ago, Farmlands provides competition in the rural supply sector to reduce input costs for farmers and growers. With diverse offerings including Farmlands Card, Sales, Retail, Fuel, Grain and Seed, Nutrition, and Horticulture, Farmlands is a major player in New Zealand's rural industry, operating a network of 82 stores, multiple Distribution Centres, five animal nutrition mills, and six blend locations. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Merchandising Officer will deliver a market-leading customer offer across the business' customer groups, channels, and product areas, while achieving the financial and cultural targets as determined by the business strategy. The appointee will proactively develop and deliver the merchandise strategy, which expresses a structured understanding of the customer environment and indicates a position on the company's own brand strategy. This includes the development and implementation of the company's pricing and promotional strategy to drive incremental sales growth across all channels.

Proven Chief Merchandising Officer or senior Merchandising executive experience, successfully creating and leading large merchandise teams within a complex multi-channel or multi-offering (services and product) business. Proven understanding of best practice merchandising gained within a highly competitive and large-scale market setting. Inspirational leader skilled at people development and creating a culture of employee engagement and high performance. Solid background in developing and implementing robust merchandising strategies, including product pricing and promotional strategies. Demonstrated ability to develop merchandising capability utilizing a data, commercial, and customer-centric approach. Experience in analyzing financial performance of categories and products, including inventory and volume demand, and aligning those with the company's financial targets. Strong knowledge of category-centric strategic sourcing and future state model design to build strong international retailer relationships. Sophisticated communication and stakeholder management skills with prior experience managing external communication to suppliers and trade groups. Proven track record of identifying new opportunities and trends based on customer insights. Operational excellence – strong understanding of best practice, continuous improvement methodologies, and operational efficiencies for profit.
