About the role
This is your opportunity to make a lasting impact. As Chief Executive Officer, you will provide sound advice and direction to the Board, setting and implementing bold strategies for social and economic investment, which uplift the region and those connected to it. You will:
Identify and lead projects that generate sustainable educational opportunities, support business growth and attract social and economic investment.
Provide sound analysis and advice to the Board and other stakeholders relating to potential investments or funding grants.
Build meaningful partnerships with industry collaborators, philanthropic entities or charities, business operations, iwi and government agencies to regenerate, develop and enhance South Waikato.
Create and promote initiatives that uplift health and wellbeing, enhance workforce capability, improve services, support local industries, all while preserving the community's legacy.
Provide leadership and motivation to a small, dedicated team to achieve targeted outcomes.
Actively promote South Waikato by enhancing its brand, attracting potential visitors, investors and residents to the region.
Skills and experience
Our ideal candidate will have:
Proven leadership and experience in business enterprise, finance or fund management, social, charitable or economic development or related fields.
The ability to navigate complex stakeholder relationships, especially with local and central government, advocating in relation to funding opportunities.
Exceptional community relationships and stakeholder engagement across business, iwi and community leaders, ideally within the South Waikato.
A knowledge of and commitment to Tikanga Maori is preferred.
Strong commercial/ business acumen and a genuine commitment to contribute to the region.
