As the Chief Executive, you will be a future-focused leader who will work in partnership with Council to develop and deliver the strategic vision and Long Term Plan for the Ashburton District.

You will be responsible for ensuring the effective leadership of all Council activities, over 300 staff and services, and the efficient implementation and delivery of plans, policies, and projects while ensuring the Council and community is kept informed on progress against these goals.

Your Experience
To succeed in this role, you will be a proven leader with strong internal and external communication and networking skills. You will support the Mayor with advocacy and promoting our District both regionally and nationally. In addition, you will inspire a high-performance culture which drives long-term value through innovative and efficient practices and programme delivery.

You will have strong financial and commercial leadership capability, with proven Local Government experience, ensuring the Council operates efficiently and responsibly within the Long Term and Annual Plans and regulatory frameworks.

Covering 6190km2, the Ashburton District is home to stunning scenery, great people, strong communities, and a prosperous economy. Local attractions include skiing, boating, fishing on the rivers and lakes, cycle and hiking tracks, while enjoying the scenery of the foothills and Southern Alps.

The district boasts enviable community facilities, including Te Whare Whakatere, Council's new Library & Civic Centre, a modern Art Gallery and Museum, and EA Networks Centre (a large indoor aquatic centre, sports stadium, and gym).
