We are looking for an experienced full-time Chef to join our team in our busy, fast-paced kitchen in Te Awa (The Base) food court, in Hamilton.
The Chef is responsible for the production of a range of quality food. You will be the person who is in charge of the cooking and preparation of the food and managing kitchen staff in a high demanding, food court setting.
This is a full-time position. You will be working a minimum of 35 hours per week.
Pay rate will be $30 to $32 per hour depending on previous work experience. Applicants must be available to work late nights, weekends, during school hours, school holidays, and public holidays.
You must have: ï· At least 6 months of relevant work experience in a kitchen environment ORï· A relevant qualification in the area of cookery.We are interested in you if you have:ï· Have previous experience in a busy professional kitchen.ï· Are passionate about cooking and creating food.ï· Have a positive and friendly attitude.ï· Are a team player.
Key Responsibilities: ï· Prepare, cook and present food in accordance with menu requirements.ï· Able to make good estimations of raw material required and the cost involved.ï· Monitor the quality of dishes during preparation and presentation stagesï· Demonstrate techniques and advise on cooking proceduresï· Be responsible for ordering supplies and planning /preparing/estimating food costs and raw material with management to help maintain cost and profitability of the business.ï· Set up station in accordance with the business level and keep stocked for service.ï· Ensure that maintenance, food/hygiene and the health and safety regulations are observed and met at all times by all kitchen staff, and all equipment is kept clean.ï· Discuss with the Restaurant Manager improvements required for the growth of the business.ï· To preserve the food and freeze them as required.ï· Maintain a good working relationship with the staff.ï· Keep the food cost under control.ï· Delegating and supervising of kitchen staff.ï· Train and mentor junior staff.
