Chef - Duke Of Wellington

Details of the offer

The Duke of Wellington is looking for an experienced and motivated (mid-level) Chef to join our team and support our head chef, Michele. We pride ourselves on having some personality and a bit of banter with our customers, so it is important that the successful candidate is comfortable with this and able to live the spirit of the Duke.
What we offer:
a positive working environment and regular staff get-togethers (if that's your thing!)
competitive payrates (rate pending previous experience)
Flexible working hours – we are happy to work around your commitments
Regular on-the-job training and learning from one of the best.
External Employee Discount Provider: enjoy great discounts at selected retailers from your very first day.
Rewards and recognition programme
Accommodation and Food & Beverage discounts at our full portfolio of properties in the most beautiful North Island locations!
What we need from you:
Previous experience as a chef. The successful applicant will be responsible for (but not limited to):
Prep for service, preparing a la carte meals for customers in a busy and high-volume restaurant, minimising wastage and maintaining a clean and safe working area, assisting with ordering, stock management and junior staff development/training
Ability to work in a small team
Excellent time management and ability to work well under pressure
An eye for detail and high standard of cleanliness
Be a team player and excellent communicator
Have a positive can-do attitude and bring your best every day
No specific training is necessary, but a qualification in Food Hygiene, Cookery, Culinary Arts or equivalent experience would be advantageous.
We are flexible with time and hours for the right person. The role will focus mainly on morning shifts for prep, with a possibility for some evening or weekend shifts.
About us:
The Duke of Wellington is all about having some fun with dining, eating great food and getting great service. We want the Duke to be a local establishment where people go to enjoy a great craft beer, amazing wines, and eat some great food made with local ingredients. We have a delicious menu which changes regularly, and the team works hard creating amazing dishes for our troops.
The Duke is located in central Wellington on Waterloo Quay, which is the perfect location to grab a coffee on your way to work, a drink on your way to the train station, or any meal of the day.
If the Duke of Wellington sounds like something you want to be part of, then apply now and tell us a bit about yourself. Skills and experience for this role are important, but we are more concerned about finding the right fit, so tell us why you are the right person to join our team.
