Location: Central Hawkes Bay Health Centre, Waipukurau Service/Department: District Nursing Contract: Casual – no fixed hours of work About the role: We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our District Nursing team, based at the CHB Health Centre in Waipukurau. This role involves providing specialist nursing care in the community, where you will work autonomously to support patients in managing their health at home. As a key member of the District Nursing team, your goal will be to enable patients to stay healthier for longer, helping them avoid hospital visits and recover in the comfort of their homes. You will be providing a broad range of nursing services including wound care, intravenous therapy, catheter management, and long-term condition management. The role is varied and challenging, making it ideal for a nurse who enjoys working independently in the community. Skills and experience: To succeed in this role, you will need: A current unendorsed NZ driver licence, as travel within the community is required A strong customer service focus, with the ability to build trust and rapport with patients and their families A broad range of clinical skills, including: Wound management (both acute and chronic care) Intravenous therapy administration Urinary in-dwelling catheter management Knowledge of palliative care and long-term condition management Ideally, experience working in a community setting, but we are open to applicants who can demonstrate proficient nursing practice according to the Health NZ – Hawkes Bay Professional Development and Recognition Programme (PDRP). The ability to work autonomously, make informed decisions, and respond effectively to a variety of clinical situations in the community environment. This role would suit a nurse who enjoys the independence that comes with community nursing and is looking for a casual position with the flexibility to manage your own hours.
